When all is said and done, I am nothing.
As time flies by, I am there,
Standing in the shadows on the edge of everything,
Hidden by a smile's silent prayer.
I am a ghost from her past,
Haunting her, never letting go.
One choice made a scar that will always last,
Covered by her laughter's golden glow.
I and I alone know her pain.
To others it has not been revealed,
But once we are alone, her tears fall like rain,
As she cries out to be healed.
I lurk in the dark, always near,
Every night present in her dreams.
She has no one by her side, no one who cares,
To hold her close as she screams.
Someday, I may not matter,
But for now, I see and understand.
Her soul is fragile and like glass could shatter,
Her life stop by her own hand.
When all is said and done, I am nothing.
As time flies by, I am there,
Standing in the shadows at the edge of everything,
Listening to her heart's tearful prayer.
